I've been here a couple of times. So far the food has been decent. The chicken is a little dry for my taste. The ladies at the window have been nice. This last time I ordered a Mexican hamburger. It had pineapple and ham in it. I was very impressed with the taste. The beef patty has a good open fire taste. I'm not even sure if there is an open fire there, but it sure tastes like it. My only complaint with this location has to do with the drive thru and why am I asked if I want to leave a tip? Who in the hell goes through a drive thru and is asked if they'd like to leave a tip? Other than that, highly recommended.
The best chicken in Texas. I'm so glad they opened in Buda. No more driving to S1st, or S1st, or S1st, or the 20 Austin area locations that mostly seem to be on S1st. I walked in for a to go order just after noon. The cashier was friendly and funny and I had my whole chicken meal in 2 minutes! It's true these are not the biggest chickens. But they are the best tasting. Even my kids love them, and they don't usually like spicy food. My wife and I like it spicy, and that green sauce has had us eating Pollo Rico for years.
Their grilled chicken is delicious and juicy. The charro beans, rice, and tortillas are all delicious. Their guacamole salsa has nice heat and flavor. The torta is delicious too (I got chicken, but you can choose whatever protein). I've tried almost everything on their menu, and it's all been tasty.
Place is a legit hidden gem. Staff does not speak much English, good food, good prices. Clean, but very stripped down vibe. The kind of place that work trucks stop at for lunch and they don't know what to do with you when you walk in with your suburban white family. 10/10 cannot speak for other locations. PS the Burgers are legit. I know you are not supposed to get burgers at a Mexican place but it happened and it's better than the burgers at other places
I’m so glad Pollo Rico is now in Buda! We have had it 4 times now since they opened a few weeks ago. Their food quality is great and consistent and the staff at this location is wonderful. The lady at the drive thru “smiles” through the audio system and just makes you feel happy and welcome. Chicken and sides are delicious as usual and their asada is really good too.
I would just say give this new location some time and it will get better. We love the slaughter location. First time we went the horchata was not good, went another time and it was a little better. Went again today and it finally tastes like the slaughter location. The food is always good and one of our favorite places to eat. So happy we don’t have to go all the way to slaughter anymore!
I really liked everything the menu has. Tasty, the sides are so good, I really liked the plantains and rice. Fast food with a great taste.
